Can you believe it??

It's been a whole year?! What??  How can it be a year since we did this? What have y'all be up to?  Check it!

That's a wrap!

So, now that all of the assignments are turned in, I feel accomplished. I learned quite a bit, but yet there's so much more to do! Educational technology is a constantly evolving entity, and I think we can agree that COVID has sent that evolution spiraling in a direction we never thought we'd see, at a speed far faster than we thought possible. After all, who'd have thought that the entire WORLD would become virtual learners in 2020? We weren't prepared for that at all! But we made it happen- we had no choice!       As we look forward, we are left to ask, "now what?" Where do we go from here? How do we raise the bar? How to we engage our students in a way to keep learning fun? How do we bring integrity into the virtual classroom? How do we empower our next generation of learners and educators with the tools they need to go forth and prosper? Is virtual learning better? Is there even a comparison? Time will tell- but it is up to us- the educators to make educ...

Wilson Community College

I decided to evaluate Wilson Community College since I graduated from there in 2009. When I was a student at WCC, students did not have their own email addresses, instructors used cassette tapes and VCRs, TVs and overhead projectors to deliver content. Internet service was available, but not WiFi, so you had to go to the library to "plug in". When I think of the fact that I left only 12 years ago is MIND BLOWING! Enjoy my summary! Seizure Lecture! FINALLY!

So,   teaching in person seems to be more my thing. I get in front of a class and talk to people! Recording blips to a slide, not so much. This took waaayyy longer than its should have had, probably because of my perfectionistic insecurities. Record... listen... hate it... repeat! UGH! Soo, here is my imperfect presentation on seizures- I hope you enjoy it far more than I enjoyed making it. (that said, I enjoyed putting it together, I REALLY, REALLY DID!- I just wish I had not belabored it as much).. ;-)  Seizures!

Seizures, Seizures, Seizures!!

https://elite24er.com/how-do-you-respond-to-someone-having-a-seizure/ Hey everyone!  Continuing with my seizure theme, I decided to create a tech friendly lesson plan incorporating adaptive learning, Analytics for Student Success, and some virtual learning or AI into my lesson plan. My plan includes an online module where the student will watch a lecture and take an online quiz on the LMS. They will then come into the SIM lab for some training on the high fidelity manikins. They will be recorded during their SIMS and then critique their own performance so they can analyze their own performance and make adjustments to improve and learn. Here's a link to the lesson plan.    Seizure lesson plan

Seizure Week

Seizure Week Hey everyone! This week, we are going to be focusing on seizures. Take a look at the first two links, then complete the quiz.  Watch lecture: https://youtu.be/KrVWUaT4bMA   Read:  Prehospital Care for the Adult and Pediatric Seizure Patient: Current Evidence-based Recommendations Take home points: Prevalence of seizures in the US Types of seizures Causes of seizures Complications of seizures Status Epilepticus Assessment, findings, and symptoms Treatment- pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management Watch:  ReelDx Case 817 As you watch the ReelDx Case, think about the following: What is your first impression of the patient? What clues does Mom give that leads you to think this? What are some differential diagnoses for this patient? What is your primary concern for this patient? Do we need to treat this patient’s seizures, or can we “wait it out”? What is your rationale for your choice? ...

Zotero? WHAT?!?

So, I'm basically in my last semester of my graduate program... that's a LOT of papers, a LOT of research, and a LOT of citations! Citefast has been my friend for the duration of my undergrad and graduate programs, but I have bad news for Citefast- Zotero is my new bestie! WHY haven't I learned about this sooner?? Oh! How much easier my life could have been!! Here's my bibliography. This took me literally 10 minutes to make! Bibliography Adzima, K. (2020).
